The Spiritual Laws Of The Mind And Mouth

3 Mins read

We live by spiritual laws. They govern how we live our lives on a physical level. They affect our physical realities when activated. Among the other spiritual laws, there are two that are common and powerful. These spiritual laws are the law of the mind and the law of the mouth. The law of the mind states that our thoughts create our reality, and the law of the mouth states that our words create our reality. Both laws are powerful because they can be used to create positive or destructive outcomes in our lives.

The first spiritual law relates to the mind.

Proverbs 23:7 (NKJV) 7 For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. “Eat and drink!” he says to you, But his heart is not with you. Who you are is shaped by your thoughts. For as he conceives in his heart, so is he. Proverbs 23:7 does not say that as you conceive in your heart that is how you will be but that is how you are now. It is therefore necessary to change the way you think if you want to change your life. Allow God’s word to guide your thinking. But how? And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God (Romans 12:2). How do you renew your mind? It is what you think about shapes, builds, and creates who you are, your life, your world, and your future. The first step towards a change in your mind is to renew your mind by studying, thinking, and meditating on God’s word. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success (Joshua 1:8). The Bible provides guidance on renewing your mind. It encourages us to focus on God and His teachings. It encourages us to think about things that are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, and of commendable report. We are encouraged to dwell on these things. By choosing our thoughts carefully, thinking positively, and setting our minds on spiritual matters, we learn to control the direction and destiny of our thoughts.

The second spiritual law relates to the mouth.

Words have the power to create. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light (Genesis 1:1–3). All other spiritual laws are activated by the spiritual law of the creative power of words. It is important to start speaking the word of God to yourself and your condition if you want to change your life. What is the purpose of speaking according to God’s word? When you speak God’s word, you are activating the creative power of words. By speaking according to God’s word, you authorize divine intervention and providence. What you say can make a difference between life and death. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit (Proverbs 18:21). It is what you speak that determines what God does to you. Say to them, “As I live,’ says the LORD, “just as you have spoken in My hearing, so I will do to you (Numbers 14:28). What you declare is what is established for you. What you speak can establish light or darkness in your life. You will also declare a thing, and it will be established for you; So, light will shine on your ways (Job 22:28). Lastly, you have the same Spirit of faith that God had when he created the world. And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak (2 Corinthians 4:13). Therefore, anytime you speak know that there is something you are creating. It doesn’t matter whether it’s negative or positive. When we speak, we create. The process of speaking is the process of creating. By speaking, spiritual forces and powers responsible for creation are released into action.

Take a moment to think before blaming the devil and others for your suffering. You need to check your thought life and change it so that it aligns with what God says. The second thing you should do is check your words. Be sure to align your speech with God’s word.

Therefore, put your thoughts and words in check and allow them to be guided and governed by God’s word.
