“Do not be deceived and deluded and misled; God will not allow Himself to be sneered at ( scorned, disdained, or mocked by mere pretensions or professions, or by His precepts being set aside)[He inevitably deludes himself who attempts to delude God.] For whatsoever a man sows, that and that only is what he will reap. “(Galatians 6:7, Amp)
What is to Sow?
The English dictionary defines the word sow as placing (seeds) in or on the ground for future growth ( Mark 4: 26–28, 31–32). The Greek word translated in English sow is”speiro” which means to scatter. (Matthew 13:3–8; Luke 8:5–8 & Mark 4:3–8)
The Hebrew word translated in English sow is “zara” which figuratively means to conceive seeds.
Sowing is the process of placing seeds in or on the ground for future growth. It is scattering seeds. It is conceiving seeds. It doesn’t bring forth seeds but conceives them. There is a process & procedure to follow from conception to giving birth and the precautions to take. Sowing is conceiving seeds that will only manifest when they are born. Anytime you sow a seed, you are conceiving more seeds. Keep on conceiving seeds by sowing them; you will give birth to what you have been conceiving in secret when the perfect time comes. You will receive a harvest, and it will manifest.
You don’t sow stones but seeds. In life, you are always a sower. Whether you know it or not. Anything you give out is a seed you have sown. Any act of love or hatred you perform, it’s a seed. Any act of worship you perform is a seed you are sowing, whether from a heart of love or hate. Now anything you do in secret or public, in loved or hatred, knowing or unknowing, is a seed you are sowing. That’s why the bible says, “Be not deceived: God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption, but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap if we faint not”.(Galatians 6:7–9)
The words you speak are seeds. Negative words paralyze the power of God and activate the power of Satan. Positive words attract God and activate his power. You paralyze Satan and his power by sowing positive words (seeds). Also, you can activate the power of Satan by sowing seeds of negative words – Words of unbelief or fear. Know that the tongue can sow life or death. Proverbs 18:21 says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” Also, Proverbs 12:14 shows this. The bible says, ” A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth: and the recompense. Of a man’s hands shall be rendered unto him.”
Every situation and condition you find yourself in is a fruit. It has seeds for sowing and bread for food. You have to bisect the condition or situation to get seeds for sowing and bread for food. Whether you take negative words as seeds, they will answer for you by opening a door for the devil. When you take positive words as your seeds, they will also answer you by allowing God in your life and situation.
Your giving is always a seed you are planting. It doesn’t matter the name you give to it. Remember, it is a seed you are planting. “But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: ( As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth forever. Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness.).” (2 Corinthians 9:6–10)
When you preach, teach, guide & counsel and other verbal processes and procedures you find yourself doing, these are seeds you are planting, and you will reap at the right time if you don’t faint (1 Corinthians 9:11 & Galatians 6:6–10)
You sow spiritual things, you reap material things. ” If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?” ( 1 Corinthians 9:11)
You reap only what you sow, and to the level you sow. ” But I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly, and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.” (2 Corinthians 9:6)
” Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” ( Galatians 6:7)
You receive seed first before you sow.
” Then Joseph said unto the people, Behold, I have bought you this day and your land for Pharaoh: lo, here is seed for you, and ye shall sow the land.” (Genesis 47:23). You can’t sow the seeds you don’t have.
Is it Seed or Bread?
(2 Corinthians 9:10 & Isaiah 55:10)
Everything you receive, or can I put it this way, anything you work for, and every blessing you receive has two components in it. First, it has a seed and bread. In other words, it is a fruit. Fruits have both seeds and bread. Seeds are for sowing, while the bread is for food.
These two scriptures, 2 Corinthians 9:10 & Isaiah 55:10, show this. The seed is for planting or sowing, while the bread is for food or eating. When you sow the seed, it has the power to reproduce after its kind. Keep in mind that each seed has its own period of growth, from the time of planting to maturity. In other words, for the seed to produce a harvest or fruits, it must be planted or sown. This shows that there is a planting season. The same seed planted to bring forth fruits that will turn out to be bread for food and seed for sowing must be ripe or mature and be gathered into the barn. This is a harvest season—a seed work in the principle of planting and harvesting. Planting season and harvesting season is what is called the covenant of prosperity. Prosperity is a covenant. It is a covenant of seedtime and harvest. Genesis 8:22 shows this “While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest………… shall not cease.”
For you to receive a harvest, you must plant or sow seeds. Don’t plant bread for food, but plant a seed for sowing. When you plant a seed, you receive fruits at the harvest. Keep this in mind: there are fruits hidden in every seed you hold. These fruits can only manifest when the seed is planted and taken care of to produce fruits that mature and are harvested. And in every fruit you are holding, there are seeds inside and bread. The seeds in fruit must be taken out and then be prepared appropriately to be suitable for planting. This circle, if not broken, continues and causes the multiplication of the plant. From a single seed to a plant, from plant to plants, from plants to plantation, plantation to plantations, then a forest and forests. Then, the world calls you a blessed man—a prosperous person.
When you plant bread, you receive bread after very many days. Ecclesiastes 11:1 shows this. It says, ” Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shall find it after many days.” The bread you sow comes to you as bread, but it takes a long, long time ( very many days). When you sow bread, you reap bread after waiting for a long. The bread you sow just comes back as bread. It has no harvest time, and it is not multiplied or increased. You will starve from hunger during the waiting period because nothing is coming forth. No hope of a harvest. No hope of food. Only starvation and poverty come when you sow seeds, but you shall reap fruits at the harvest time. That is why the bible says that bread is for food. It’s for eating, not planting. Seeds are for sowing, not eating. God multiplies the seed you sow and increases the fruits. God doesn’t multiply the bread you sow but the seed you sow. He also increases the fruits of the seed you sow. The bread doesn’t have seeds. Fruits have seeds.
“Now he that minister seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness. ( 2 Corinthians 9:10). The same God ministers the seed to the sower and bread for food. God does multiply the seed you sow. When you don’t plant anything, you have bound the hands of God. You have paralyzed and blocked the power of God of multiplication from acting for you and flowing in your life. There is nothing for Him to multiply for you. For He only multiplies the seeds you sow. When you don’t sow the seed, they will not produce fruits. You have paralyzed the power of God of increment from manifesting in your life. So no increment on your part. When you sow seeds, God multiplies them, and then he increases the fruits. In other words, sowing of seeds is activating the power of God of multiplication and increment to work and flow through your life, ministry, family, business, calling etc. When you keep back or eat your seeds, you will have nothing. You will have activated the power of lack and poverty. The power of lack and poverty activates the devil and his power to work against you fearlessly. Therefore you must have the wisdom to distinguish between the seed for sowing and bread for food in each, and everything you earn and God blesses you with. Now keep this in mind, seeds are for sowing. Fruits are both for seeds for sowing and bread for food. We don’t plant fruits but seeds. Therefore anything you earn or God blessed you with is a fruit. Now you must have the wisdom to bisect these fruits so that you may have seed for sowing and bread for food. Glory to God.
Seed is for sowing and bread for food. Seeds can be consumed. They can be eaten as food through our ignorant or disobedience. Let this sink deep into your mind and heart, that seed is not for food, and bread is not for seed. You will have nothing to plant in the long run when you eat seed, and you will have no harvest. Therefore no food, thus eating seed equal to starvation and poverty. Eating or not sowing seeds is the quickest way to deactivate the power of God of multiplication and increment and activate the power of poverty, lack and starvation in your life. Thus giving Satan a foothold over your blessings. God multiplies the seed and increases the fruits when you plant a seed. You will have an abundant harvest. Fruits are for food and seeds. Therefore planting seeds equals more seeds and abundant food. It is also an activation of the power of God of multiplication and increment in your life and through your life. It closes all the avenues the devil can use to access your blessings.
Walk in the covenant of prosperity and see God increase you step by step; Glory to glory, grace to grace. Be a prosperity covenant keeper and see the covenant of prosperity and God of covenant answers for you. There’s no multiplication and
increment in what you are doing because you are not a serious prosperity covenant practitioner. Practice and keep practicing this covenant of prosperity and see how God honours his word and how faithful he is to his covenant-keeping.
In the kingdom of God, every time is the sowing time, and then God is the one who controls harvest time. The wisest human king understood this. He said, “In the morning sow thy seed and in the evening withhold not thine hand; for thou knowest not whether shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good.” ( Ecclesiastes 11:6)
The bible also warns against looking for favourable situations and conditions to sow. You will not plant when you look at the surroundings, people, situations, or conditions. Once there is no sowing, there will be no reaping. Ecclesiastes 11:4 says, “He that observeth the wind shall not sow: and he that regardeth the clouds shall not real.”
Where to Sow or Plant
The best ground to sow in is God. Anything you do, have this mentality that you are doing to and for God. Men are only receiving it on behalf of God. God told Moses, “Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring me an offering: and every man that giveth it willingly with his heart ye shall take my offering.” ( Exodus 25:2)
Therefore take your focus from men while sowing your seeds and put it on God.
Let your sowing ground be always God himself. “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him… And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men. Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.( Colossians 3:17, 23– 24)
Our opening text says that whatever you plant, you will reap. When you don’t sow anything, you reap nothing. Hosea 8:7 shows us this clearly; the bible says, “For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: it hath no stalk: the bud shall yield no meal: if so be it yield, the strangers shall swallow it up.” Sowing wind is just the same as sowing nothing. When you sow nothing in your field, even if it brings forth fruits, others or strangers will eat it but not you. You can’t enjoy the sweat of others. You can’t eat what you have not planted peacefully.
I conclude by this scripture verses;
“Honour the Lord with your capital and sufficiency [from righteous labours] and with the first fruits of all your income; so shall your storage places be filled with plenty, and your cats shall be overflowing with new wine”.(Proverbs 3:9–10, Amp.)
” He who has pity on the poor lends to the Lord, and that which he has given He will repay to him.” ( Proverbs 19:17, Amp.)
“For if the [eager] readiness to give is there, then it is acceptable and welcomed in proportion to what a person has, not according to what he does not have.” (2 Corinthians 8:12, Amp.)
“And whatsoever ye do do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men” ( Colossians 3:23)
Prayer & Meditation
Father thank you, for bringing to my remembrance that prosperity is a covenant, and those who practice it will see its benefits and fruits in their lives. So help me always differentiate between a seed for sowing and bread for food. Give me the heart to sow seeds always, In Jesus Name, Amen.
